Professional Experience:

I am currently the Auditor-General of Zimbabwe having been in this post for the past 13 years.I have managed to bring up to date the audits of annual financial statements of government which were in arrears for 5 years.I championed the crafting of the Audit Office Act which was passed in Parliament in 2011.The essence of the Act was to take the Office of the Auditor-General out of the Public Service so that the Office becomes more independent. The Office is now able to retain the audit fees it charges and recruit its staff without going through the Public Service Commission.I have organized retreats for the Audit Office (Office of the Auditor-General) and produced strategic plans for the periods 2005-2009,2010-2014 and 2015-2019.I re-formatted my audit reports.The reports are now in narrative form, highlighting significant issues raised in management letters. The reports are being appreciated more by the public because they have been simplified.I am the immediate past vice president African Regional Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions for English speaking countries (AFROSAI-E).I am past board member of INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).My membership term of of ended in 2016 having served on the board for 5 years.IDI is a training arm of all Audtors-General's Offices based in Oslo, Norway.I am an ex-officio board member of the Public Accountants and Auditors Board in Zimbabwe.I am the vice-chairperson of the Technical Capacity Building Committee of the African Regional Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions.I was a Deputy Auditor General from 1993-2004.I was responsible for setting up the parastatals division. With the assistance of a consultant,I co-authored the Parastatals audit manual and the audit programes for use in the division.I worked as a an administration and human resources officer for 2 years.I drew up budgets and the financial statements. I was also in charge of administration and human resources.I ensured that all necessary records were in place in readiness for audit.I was a Director of Audit from 1991-1993 wherein I was overally in charge of two managers at deputy director of audit grade. I reviewed audit plans, interim and final audits checking on quality as well. I also reviewed value for money reports.For the period 1983-1991, I planned and carried out audits giving on job training to subordinate staff.I wrote appraisal reports for the subordinate staff who reported to me.I also checked their time sheets.
