About Regions Refocus:

Regions Refocus is an NGO working on progressive and feminist economic policy. We build cross-regional, cross-movement solidarity in the struggle for progressive and feminist economic policy. We spark alliances and strengthen analysis to challenge the dominant, neoliberal development framework. Our work includes organizing policy workshops, coordinating collective research projects, growing advocacy coalitions, and more.

Some of our key programs of work include Post-Colonialisms Today (PCT), a research and advocacy project recovering policy insights from the early post-independence period in Africa; the Gender and Trade Coalition (GTC), a global alliance of over 300 feminist organisations advocating for trade justice; and Feminists Regenerating the Economy and the Ecosphere (FREE), a budding Global South-focused research and advocacy initiative aimed at addressing the systemic interconnections of gender and climate.

About the position:

The key objective of this role is to maximize the production and publication of written outputs from our various programs of work, from facilitating and editing products from our allies, to, in some cases, drafting or co-authoring these outputs. Depending on your experience, the role can begin at either Coordinator or Senior Coordinator level. The content you will be drawing from and developing pulls from traditions including South feminism, Marxism, heterodox economics, and more. You will collaborate closely with our allies across the Global South and be supervised by the Policy and Advocacy Manager of Regions Refocus. The position will start on 1 February 2026, with an application deadline of 7 December.

What you’ll do:

Publications and Research Coordination (75%)
  • Feminists Regenerating the Economy and the Ecosphere (FREE)
  • Contributing to research outputs aimed at unpacking key climate issues from a heterodox feminist perspective, including by drafting and editing, working closely with the Ecological Justice Coordinator and the Policy and Advocacy Manager.
  • Transcribing and editing presentations by team members and allies into short articles and/or popular education materials.
  • Shaping regionally-grounded research processes, emerging from a series of regional meetings.
  • Gender and Trade Coalition
  • Coordinating GTC publications– spanning a (planned) policy brief series, joint letters, and statements– by facilitating a drafting and editing process with Steering Group members.
  • Copyediting a quarterly GTC newsletter, working closely with the Communications Coordinator.
  • Adapting existing outputs into academic journal publications.
  • Post-Colonialisms Today
  • Planning a series of videos interviewing radical elders, based on their written articles.
  • Designing and managing a strategy to republish our written outputs.
Institutional Support (25%)
  • Providing ad hoc drafting and editing support on grant proposals, donor reports, and talks.
  • Supporting a media strategy to bolster Regions Refocus’ programmatic work, including cultivating relationships with new and existing media contacts.
  • Contributing to, and helping to shape, strategic planning conversations.
Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience in program coordination or research for progressive organizations, non-profits, academic institutes, unions, political organizations, or similar.
  • University degree in development studies or adjacent social sciences field (international affairs, economics, geography, etc.) required. A post-graduate degree is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and switch between projects, managing work independently according to different deadlines and timelines.
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to translate dense, complex technical materials into a variety of outputs for different audiences.
  • Sharp editing skills, including developmental, structural, and line editing.
  • Keen interest in, and knowledge of, global progressive politics. An understanding of global development, North-South relations, neo-colonialism, etc. is especially relevant.
  • Friendly demeanor and collaborative spirit, able to both give and receive feedback openly.
  • Comfortable with digital work tools including Google Drive, Microsoft Suite, etc.
  • Language abilities are desirable, especially Arabic, French, or Spanish.
Terms of employment:

This is a full-time position. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role at this time, so a valid authorization to work in the United States is required if you plan to work in our NYC office. We are open to remote work for the right candidate.

The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $75,000, depending on experience. In addition to this, all full-time employees receive a health insurance allowance to purchase coverage independently, and an allowance in lieu of retirement contributions. Employees get ten days of sick leave per year and two days of accrued leave for every calendar month worked. Additionally, we observe ten paid holidays and our office shuts down between 24 December and 2 January.
