Concordia AI is committed to identifying and addressing the most pressing challenges arising from AI development, ensuring AI develops in a safe, reliable, and responsible way. The convergence of AI and the life sciences is one of its primary focus areas: while it holds promise for public health and medical innovation, it also lowers barriers to biological misuse, raises the ceiling of potential harm, and undermines existing biodefense systems. Concordia AI's work in this area includes policy reports, the Frontier AI Risk Management Framework 2.0, the Frontier AI Risk Monitoring Platform, and participation in global AI x Bio governance dialogues, including with NTI and at the Biological Weapons Convention Working Group.
Responsibilities: As a core team member, you will conduct in-depth research at the intersection of frontier AI and biosecurity, providing decision support for AI x biosecurity governance across the policy, industry, and academic communities. Focusing on general-purpose large models, biology-specific AI models, AI agents, and automated labs, you will drive end-to-end research, from risk identification to mitigation strategy development.
- AI x Biosecurity Threat Modeling: develop threat models with domain experts, defining risk thresholds and assessment criteria.
- Benchmark Development: independently design and build benchmarks for AI biological capabilities and safety.
- Red-Teaming & Mitigation Strategies: conduct red-teaming evaluations on high-risk biological tasks, identify safety vulnerabilities, and test and validate risk mitigation strategies and safeguards.
- Technical & Policy Tracking: track technical advances and policy developments, translating findings into research reports, policy recommendations, and technical proposals.
Required: Alignment with Concordia AI's mission and strong interest in AI x Biosecurity; Master's degree or above in Synthetic Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Virology, Pathogen Biology, Biosecurity, or a related discipline; genuine interest in AI and fast learning; familiarity with experimental design and data analysis methodologies; strong Chinese reading and writing skills and proficient spoken Chinese.
Preferred: Experience in AI-assisted biological design, nucleic acid synthesis, biosecurity risk assessments, or high-containment biosafety lab (BSL) operations; hands-on experience developing or applying AI models in life sciences; ability to communicate and collaborate in both Chinese and English with Chinese and international biosecurity stakeholders.
Location: Beijing or Singapore.
