The Finance Associate works under the supervision of the Finance Officer and is responsible for payments related to project activities in the area of intervention, reconciliation, and filing of accounting records within the finance office. The role is also responsible for justifying payments made under the project and ensuring supporting documents comply with FHI 360 procedures. The position is open for three locations: Kolwezi, Beni and Buta (Bas-Uele Province); applications from all three areas will be considered.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Finance Officer in verifying financial and accounting documents: receive supplier invoices and check their accuracy and supporting documentation before payment.
- Prepare the statement of cash needs with the Finance Officer.
- Prepare supplier and partner payments in strict compliance with FHI 360 procedures.
- Disburse advances for program activities according to FHI 360 procedures.
- Verify payment justifications, scan accounting records and upload them to the country office SharePoint on time.
- Orient program staff on project procedures.
- Ensure activities comply with the relevant terms of reference and report deviations to the supervisor.
- File and archive accounting records per FHI 360 procedure; safeguard the confidentiality of financial information.
- Assist in preparing audits and monthly financial statements.
- Verify petty cash expenditures are accurate and documented.
Requirements:
- Associate university degree in management, accounting, economics or a related field.
- At least 3 years of proven professional experience in accounting and finance.
- Experience in a national and/or international NGO in a similar role; experience on US government-funded programs is a considerable asset.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent command of French (written and spoken); a local language and English are an asset.
- Strong writing skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, rigor, flexibility, teamwork, integrity and resilience under stress.
Salary range: USD 16,500 - 22,000 annually (gross, national local hire).
