About Global Greengrants Fund:
Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) supports grassroots activists and civil society organisations around the world working to address environmental and social justice in over 160 countries. GGF applies a participatory and decentralised model in making grants to grassroots groups through regional and thematic boards of advisors, global partner networks, and partner funds, to support grassroots environmental and social justice action. Global Greengrants believes solutions to environmental harm and social injustice come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day, our global network of people on the frontlines and donors comes together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food, water, and resources, they are forces for change.
Global Greengrants Fund comprises two organisations—one located in the USA, Global Greengrants Fund Inc. (established in 1993), and Global Greengrants Fund UK (established in 2012). The two organisations work closely together with a shared grantmaking programme and strategic collaboration at the senior leadership level.
In 2026, Global Greengrants Fund is amid a transformative journey in which we collectively centre our values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, and organisational care in our work, and to rediscover our identity and potential after 30 years of work.
The role:
Global Greengrants Fund is looking to hire a committed and passionate individual who will coordinate and operationalize GGF’s program work across our three impact areas: Energy, Earth, and Equity, supporting our global Advisory Network and strengthening the systems, processes, and collaboration needed to deliver our strategy.
The Program Manager will coordinate annual workplans and budgets, manage program workflows, monitor expenditure, and contribute to strategy implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning. They will work closely with colleagues across Operations, Grants Management, Finance, Philanthropic Partnerships, and GGF UK to support donor compliance, funded activities, and effective budget management. They will also build relationships with advisors, movement actors, and peer organizations, helping ensure our work responds to the priorities and needs of our global network.
The Program Manager is a member of the Programs team. In the present accountability structures, they are line managed by the Vice President of Programs while building and working in more collaborative ways across the Programs team and the wider organization.
The candidate profile:
Successful applicants will have significant relevant experience working in justice-centred organizations that directly support local organizations and movements, including social and environmental justice, feminist, gender, human rights, philanthropy, movement-building, grantmaking, or funding organizations.
They should bring a deep understanding of climate justice, philanthropy, grantmaking, and movement accompaniment, alongside a grounded political analysis of global systems and the role of movements in transforming them.
They should demonstrate strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple priorities, projects, deliverables, and deadlines, and the ability to plan, coordinate, and lead the implementation of plans and processes across a team. Proven experience in project and program planning, coordination, and implementation, together with strong financial management skills—including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and analysis—is essential. They should demonstrate strategic thinking, critical analysis, sound judgment, and the ability to solve complex problems.
They should have excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with experience working with diverse communities from multiple identities across the globe in a virtual environment. They should be able to build strong alliances and navigate complex relationships across diverse constituencies. They also thrive in a remote environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.
They should be confident using digital tools to communicate, collaborate, and manage work in a fully remote environment across time zones. Experience strengthening growing organizations, collaborative ways of working, and courses or certificates in program or project management, design, and evaluation are desirable.
English fluency is required; proficiency in other languages preferred.
The role requires the ability to travel within the US and internationally for approximately 4–8 weeks per year.
The right candidate will understand Global Greengrants Fund’s core values and be committed to the guiding principles and mission of Global Greengrants and ensure they uphold them in the way they take up the responsibilities of the role.
