Blue Ventures is recruiting a Senior Marine Ecology Officer - Southeast Asia to provide technical support to its marine ecology operations across Southeast Asia. Reporting directly to the Data Science Manager - Asia and based full-time in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia (with regular regional travel), the role will support community-based ecology monitoring, management, and governance, working closely with teams in Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and the Philippines as well as regional partners across Southeast Asia.
Working closely with the global Spatial Ecology team, you will execute the technical development, workflow standardization, field-level rollout of mobile data technologies, and tailored learning resources that bridge science and community-led conservation.
The Senior Officer will lead capacity-building initiatives, including hands-on workshops, technical mentoring, and peer exchanges, to translate ecological theory into practical, community-level action.
Requirements: a dynamic technical professional with proven expertise in mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems, participatory monitoring, and ecosystem-based fisheries governance in Southeast Asia. A strong track record in community-led natural resource management and multi-stakeholder partnership building is needed; familiarity with coastal carbon markets is optional. The ideal candidate works independently across disciplines in complex environments and shares a commitment to human rights-based marine conservation.
Contract: Permanent, start as soon as possible. Remuneration: IDR 255,498,264 to IDR 305,344,256 per annum (gross).
