SNV has been present in Nigeria since 2020 and is seeking a full-time Agribusiness and Livelihoods Advisor for one of its agriculture projects, based in Abuja.
The Advisor provides technical insights and advisory services on products and interventions, giving input to the Project Manager and project partners to meet agreed objectives and deliver successful interventions. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the deployment and implementation of sustainability and inclusive livelihood strategies so youth and women are engaged as competitive entrepreneurs, employees and job creators in selected crop value chains.
- Lead agribusiness development activities at cluster level, focusing on practical facilitation, market linkages, services and enterprise development.
- Contribute to annual, quarterly and monthly planning and reporting on livestock and horticulture value chain and market system activities.
- Conduct sector assessments and market analyses to identify agribusiness opportunities for rural young women.
- Develop and implement the project annual activity plan, monitor progress and anticipate challenges.
- Facilitate technical support for market-relevant, youth- and women-oriented employability skills training in targeted counties.
- Strengthen the capacities of project partners, coaches and stakeholders involved in youth support.
- Support research-informed policy instruments and investment readiness; foster public-private partnerships to enhance youth participation in adapted-crop value chains.
- Document and keep records of trained youth and young agri-preneurs for coaching and market linkages, and prepare timely project reports.
Requirements:
- Master's degree plus a minimum of seven years' experience in agribusiness, agricultural economics, business administration or a related field.
- At least five years' experience developing and implementing projects in larger, complex, multi-sectoral programmes.
- Strong knowledge of value chain development and agribusiness operations in both development and private sectors; experience in climate-smart issues in Nigeria.
- Strong relationship management, project management, negotiation, coaching, networking, communication and reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel to all project locations.
