CURE International is a global nonprofit network of children's hospitals that provide surgical care in a compassionate, gospel-centered environment. Services are provided at no cost to families because of the generosity of donors and partners around the world.
The International Accounting Manager provides support and oversight to CURE's hospitals in Africa, ensuring consistency and compliance with CURE's mission, core values and operating guidelines. The role focuses on accounting support, financial integrity and record keeping by supporting the hospitals in budget preparation, compliance and reporting. The International Accounting Manager is also responsible for internal audit and review functions for the hospitals and assists in policy and standards creation and implementation.
The work location can be remote from a location on the continent of Africa, or hospital-based at a CURE Hospital location if one is located in your home country. Relocation is not offered. All CURE-required travel expenses are covered by the organization. Travel is up to 40%, averaging 4-5 country visits every 6 months. Ideal candidates will be located in Africa with easy access to airports for business travel.
Essential duties:
- Financial review and documentation: provide accounting support to Hospital Controllers; review hospitals' financial transactions and supporting documentation in Odoo; implement and monitor fraud detection measures.
- Cash advances and accounts receivable monitoring.
- Account reconciliation (AR, AP, fixed assets, prepaids, etc.) and monitoring of hospital liabilities.
- Month-end and year-end closing with Hospital Controllers.
- On-site support: visit each assigned hospital at least twice a year.
- Internal and external audit support, including reviewing audit reports and management letters.
- Treasury management: cash forecasting, cash flow monitoring, revenue collection and disbursement control.
- Support the International Accounting Director with assignments and reports.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Current and active license as a Chartered Accountant, CPA or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of seven years' related experience supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions of a small to medium-sized organization.
- International, non-profit and internal auditing experience preferred, but not required.
