War Child is looking for a Programme Funding Specialist to play a key role in growing War Child's impact by securing funding opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and strengthening donor engagement to support programmes for children affected by conflict across multiple countries.
The role supports War Child Alliance's resource mobilisation across assigned country portfolios by contributing to the development and delivery of funding opportunities, partnerships and proposals. Working under the direction of the RM & BD Team Lead, the role contributes to opportunity development, partnership engagement and proposal coordination, ensuring alignment with donor strategies and organisational approaches.
Key responsibilities:
- Support delivery of funding opportunities across assigned country portfolios, translating donor strategies into concrete proposals, partnerships and pipeline progression.
- Identify and analyse funding opportunities at country level, monitoring donor priorities, funding trends and calls.
- Coordinate proposal development processes with country teams, proposal quality staff and partners to ensure timely submission.
- Support development of partnerships and consortia at country level.
- Contribute to donor engagement, maintaining working-level relationships aligned with global strategies.
- Ensure application of policy standards and donor requirements, working with Compliance & Performance.
- Contribute to pipeline tracking and opportunity management, ensuring visibility of timelines, risks and next steps.
- Facilitate coordination across the Alliance, country teams, fundraising Members and partners.
- Contribute to capacity strengthening of country teams in donor engagement, proposal processes and partnership working.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree in international development, social sciences or related field.
- Experience in programme funding within an (I)NGO; experience in conflict/post-conflict contexts an advantage.
- Strong track record in developing successful funding strategies and proposals; experience with consortium development.
- Excellent written and spoken English; other War Child Alliance languages an asset.
- Familiarity with institutional donors (FCDO, EU, UN, foundations) and donor trends.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and rights programming.
