IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland, managing several initiatives including REACH. IMPACT Afghanistan is seeking an experienced Research Manager to scope out and set up a new Research Team focused on Economy, Markets, and Livelihoods. Contract duration is 4 months, starting 1 December 2026 (preferred) or 1 January 2027 (latest). The Research Manager will build understanding of relevant aid strategies in Afghanistan, identify data and research gaps, connect with national and international NGOs, UN agencies, and donors, review existing research (including MSNA and Joint Market Monitoring Initiative), draft concept notes and research ToRs to solicit funding, develop a light-touch team strategy, and coordinate with the Cash Consortium of Afghanistan on assessment opportunities. Requirements include demonstrable humanitarian experience in programme management, evaluation and assessments; experience with economy and market data; excellent quantitative and qualitative research design and analysis skills; good understanding of the aid system; demonstrated team management including remote management; excellent communication and drafting skills; ability to work in a cross-cultural, complex security environment; a Master's degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience); proficiency with MS Office, and familiarity with R, SPSS and/or STATA is an asset. Fluency in English required; competency in Dari or Pashto is an asset. Compensation includes a monthly salary between EUR 3,050-3,100 plus a 300 USD living allowance, accommodation and food, social security and health coverage, flight tickets, R&R, and other benefits.
