The European Climate Foundation (ECF) is a major philanthropic initiative working to help tackle the climate crisis by fostering the development of a net-zero emission society at the national, European and global level. Poland's country strategy aims to support the country's transition towards a climate-neutral economy by 2050, in alignment with the broader EU framework.
The Polish Programme Senior Associate will be part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for delivering the country strategy, with a particular focus on economic, energy, and EU policy areas. Working closely with colleagues across the Polish programme and wider organisation, the Senior Associate will manage a portfolio of country-led partnerships and projects, while contributing to knowledge sharing and cross-country collaboration.
Key responsibilities include leading or co-leading strategic delivery of a portfolio of projects on economy, energy transition, and EU policy; supporting development of new grant proposals; managing project budgets; managing relationships with external partners and grantees; representing the programme in external forums; contributing to programme strategy, research and analysis; and contributing to public-facing campaigns and communications.
Essential requirements: advanced university degree in economics, public policy/law, energy and climate policy or related field; at least 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in energy and climate, economics, philanthropy, or public policy; strong understanding of the Polish energy sector and energy transition challenges; experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives; strong understanding of EU climate policies; excellent analytical and drafting skills; fluency in English. Desirable: experience with European institutions or governments, civil society organisations, high-level political processes, grant-making, and fluency in Polish.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a flexible work environment. Candidates must have the pre-existing right to live and work in Poland.
