About the Role
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Adviser will provide high-level technical advice, capacity building, and institutional strengthening support to the Government of Tuvalu’s Gender Affairs Department (GAD), the Australian High Commission (AHC), and DFAT-funded partners. The role will support the implementation of Tuvalu’s Te Paagatasi Gender Equity Policy, the Tuvalu Gender Equality Country Plan 2023-2027, and other national and development partner commitments relating to gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion.
Working closely with government ministries, civil society organisations, and development partners, the Adviser will strengthen GESI mainstreaming across policies, programs, systems, and services. Key responsibilities include providing training, mentoring, and technical support; developing practical tools and resources; supporting community awareness and behaviour change initiatives; strengthening monitoring and reporting mechanisms; and promoting inclusive approaches that reach women, people with disabilities, vulnerable groups, and outer island communities. The Adviser will also work to enhance collaboration between stakeholders, support service delivery and referral systems for survivors of gender-based violence and help build sustainable local capacity to advance gender equality and social inclusion outcomes across Tuvalu.

About You
This role requires a tertiary qualification in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion analysis and mainstreaming , international development, gender program management, or a related discipline. You will bring at least 10 years of demonstrated experience advancing gender equality and social inclusion outcomes, including expertise in gender analysis, gender mainstreaming, and working with both government and non-government stakeholders.
You will have a strong understanding of gender-based violence, domestic violence, and child protection issues, with experience supporting inclusive and gender-responsive policies, programs, and services. Experience working in Pacific Island countries or Small Island Developing States (SIDS) is highly desirable, along with the ability to provide practical technical advice, build stakeholder capability, and operate effectively in resource-constrained environments. Previous experience living and working in the Pacific will be highly regarded.
