The Innovative Health Initiative Joint Undertaking (IHI JU), based in Brussels, is a partnership between the European Union and European industry associations (COCIR, EFPIA, EuropaBio, MedTech Europe, Vaccines Europe) with a total budget of EUR 2.4 billion. It supports health research and innovation projects that deliver real benefits for patients and society. IHI JU is recruiting an Accounting and Finance Correspondent (Contract Agent, Function Group FG IV, ref. IHI/2026/CA/001) to fill one vacant post and to establish a reserve list.
Role: Under the supervision of the Head of Administration and Finance, the Accounting & Finance Correspondent supports the preparation of the annual accounts, reviews the quality of accounting data, and provides financial support in line with the JU's financial rules and European Commission accounting rules and guidance.
Key responsibilities:
- Liaise with the JU's accounting officer on the annual accounts
- Contribute to the annual year closure and prepare closure bookings
- Perform regular accounting quality controls under EC accounting guidance
- Check databases against SAP and monitor year-end calculations
- Perform the annual asset declassification exercise
- Monitor monthly transactions in workflow (legal and budgetary commitments, invoices, payments, recovery orders)
- Support validation of local systems and produce reports and payment statistics
- Act as the contact point on accounting procedures and help develop financial procedures and templates
- Prepare audit files for external auditors, the Internal Audit Service and the European Court of Auditors
- Act as initiating and/or verifying agent for financial transactions in SUMMA
Eligibility: EU national; full citizen rights; military service obligations fulfilled; character requirements met; C1 English and B2 in another official EU language; completed university studies of at least 3 years; at least 3 years of full-time experience in financial roles after the diploma.
Essential: at least 1 year of accounting experience; very good knowledge of SAP or another accounting system. Advantageous: knowledge of the EU Financial Regulation and EC accounting rules; knowledge of IPSAS, IAS and IFRS.
Conditions: 3-year contract in Brussels (extendable), FG IV grade 13 step 1 basic monthly salary of EUR 4,449.31 plus allowances (expatriation/foreign, household, dependent child, education), pension, medical and other insurance. The reserve list is valid until 31 December 2028.
