ActionAid International (AAI) is seeking a motivated Legal Intern to join its Governance function. This internship offers exposure, practical experience, and mentorship while contributing to AAI's mission of social justice, gender equality, and poverty eradication. The Legal Intern will support governance administration, compliance monitoring, policy review, and legal advisory work across the federation. Key responsibilities include: conducting legal research on corporate governance and regulatory compliance; supporting preparation of guidance notes and legal resources; assisting with documentation for the International Board, Board Committees, and General Assembly meetings; maintaining governance records, registers, legal map and filing systems; reviewing governance documents including constitutional documents, policies, and terms of reference; managing legal document filing; assisting with compliance monitoring of statutory and regulatory obligations; and supporting review and updating of organisational policies. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in law (LLB) or equivalent, be a recent graduate or awaiting admission to legal practice, and have strong written and spoken English, legal research and document review skills, and proficiency in MS Office. Interest in corporate governance and compliance within an international non-profit context is desirable, as is knowledge of international development, human rights, gender justice, or social justice issues. The role offers a fair internship stipend and a flexible working environment with structured mentorship.
