NORCAP is building an Emergency Response Roster of highly experienced, field-oriented specialists able to deploy within 14 days to complex emergencies for 3-6 months of operational surge support to UN agencies and partners. The Humanitarian Coordination Specialist provides operational coordination support at country/sub-national level in sudden-onset and complex emergencies: strengthening inter-agency coordination mechanisms (clusters/sectors), facilitating collective operational decision-making, supporting response strategies/preparedness/contingency planning, and engaging directly with operational actors in the field. Note: inclusion in the roster does not guarantee assignment; it indicates readiness for rapid deployment. Requirements: minimum 7 years international humanitarian experience; at least 3 international humanitarian missions in complex/high-risk settings at coordination/management level; recent operational emergency experience; prior UN or inter-agency experience; full professional English plus at least one of French, Arabic, Portuguese or Spanish.
