The Program Manager, AI Safety plays a critical role in the development, management, and administration of the Canadian AI Safety Institute (CAISI) research program at CIFAR, contributing to a national research agenda on AI safety at the intersection of science, society, and policy. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the Executive Director, Pan-Canadian AI Strategy, and Associate Director, AI Safety, to develop and deliver a national research program on AI Safety; providing program and administrative leadership to AI Safety initiatives, programs, and partnerships; supporting the CAISI Research Director(s) and Research Council; managing calls for proposals for new research initiatives including peer review, selection procedures, and award administration; liaising with Canada's AI Institutes on collaborative research projects; organizing AI Safety-related events such as workshops, panels, and conferences; and working with internal CIFAR teams to deliver CAISI's mandate. Requirements: Bachelor's degree required (graduate degree preferred), 3-5 years of relevant experience in a post-secondary institution, research agency, or similar environment, experience in research grants administration, program management experience in academic or philanthropic sectors, strong project management and communication skills, and data management proficiency. This is a hybrid position based in Toronto requiring 3 days per week in office. Salary range: $86,674.50-$101,970.
