Location: Remote (Sub-Saharan Africa), Africa (Remote)
Prevail partners with ambitious organizations in Africa and South Asia to help them scale solutions that transform millions of lives. As a Partnerships Officer/Senior Officer, you will work closely with 5-8 organizations to identify barriers to scale and unlock growth opportunities, connecting them to technical support, funding, and a global network of experts. This is a hands-on role, remote and based anywhere within Sub-Saharan Africa, with up to 25-30% travel.
About Prevail: Prevail is a new foundation dedicated to catalyzing large-scale social change by supporting private philanthropists and field implementers to pursue more ambitious and impactful goals. Prevail funds specific initiatives for 10-12 years, prioritising deep, strategic investments in proven solutions. Its first fund aims to improve foundational education for over 27.5 million children across 11 national governments in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Prevail provides patient capital to implementers, primarily grants that grow over time, alongside systems and talent development services. In its first three years, Prevail has partnered with 30+ organizations across Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia and hired 35+ team members globally.
About this role: You will manage a portfolio of 5-8 partner organizations, building deep relationships with their leadership teams to help them achieve verifiable impact at scale. Responsibilities include ecosystem engagement (tracking government reforms, funder priorities and programs affecting partners' ability to scale, and removing roadblocks); managing funding and investment decisions for your portfolio (reviewing live performance data, tracking milestones, gathering and analysing data and stakeholder perspectives, assessing partner trajectory, and developing recommendations for renewals, scale-ups or exits); actively supporting partners to scale (regular operational and strategic meetings, scoping targeted projects to address constraints, coordinating support from Prevail's technical team or external providers, tracking progress, surfacing risks early, and conducting field visits); and broader team contribution (partnering with other partnerships officers on cross-country initiatives and feeding learnings back into fund strategy).
About you: At least 10 years of operational experience working in or alongside organizations that have grown significantly; experience in the education sector and/or with government systems is helpful but not essential. Proven problem solving with leadership teams on strategy, people or execution; experience advising and influencing decisions from the outside; strong stakeholder coordination across partners, funders and policy makers; a consistent track record of delivering results independently; strong relationship-building and ideally an established network in the impact ecosystem; and comfort with travel and hands-on, on-the-ground support.
What is offered: Fully remote position with travel 2-4 times per year; full-time permanent contract; competitive salary based on experience, skills and location with salary bands shared with candidates; health insurance and wellness benefits; home workspace or co-working stipend; a generous learning and development budget; clear career progression and mobility; and a flexible leave policy including 25 days PTO plus public holidays. Start date is as soon as possible.
