The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world's leading humanitarian NGOs, working in over 40 countries to provide appropriate assistance and protection to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees, people on the move, and vulnerable local populations/host communities. Currently, as part of the emergency response to the earthquake, DRC is seeking a highly qualified Communications Assistant based in Caracas, Venezuela.

About the job:
DRC manages its operations in Venezuela through its country office in Caracas and three field offices located in the states of Sucre, Apure, and Zulia. DRC Venezuela implements protection monitoring, legal assistance, individual protection assistance for persons with specific needs (PWSN), information sessions for persons of concern (PoC), prevention of human trafficking, and food security initiatives.

As part of the emergency response to the earthquake that occurred in June 2026, DRC is opening a new implementation office in Caracas, separate from the country office, to address the needs of the affected populations. To this end, they are seeking a Communications Assistant with a background in graphic design, advertising, graphic communication, social communication, or a related field.

General objective of the position
The Communications Assistant is a professional with a degree in graphic design, advertising, graphic communication, social communication, or a related field. They are responsible for various activities and products under the supervision of the communications Coordinator.

They possess strong communication and creative skills, as well as technical knowledge of graphic and audiovisual production. They are capable of responding promptly, being available, following up on activities, managing tasks efficiently, paying attention to detail, demonstrating initiative, and adapting to change.

Responsibilities:
• Production of digital and printed graphic design pieces that support the execution of communication plans and/or strategies (visual concept, design and supervision of the production of pieces), support in the design and execution of processes, procedures and activities associated with the process of Management of the institutional brand.
• Pre-production, production and post-production of photographs, videos and audios.
• Audiovisual coverage on site, accompanying the teams in the activities that are carried out.
• Maintain the organization's historical archive, including communications and updated manuals for using resources and tools.
• Continuous, assertive, and effective collaboration and communication with colleagues with whom you share responsibilities.
• Support in the administration of the organization's website and social media, including publishing and monitoring them.
• Development and implementation of communication tactics for the organization's various target audiences.
• Writing content such as life stories, reports, and other products as requested.
• Any other tasks that may be required within the framework of the work of the Organization's Communications Unit.
• Immediately report to the OSH area and your immediate supervisor any work accidents, incidents (near misses) and illnesses diagnosed as work-related.
• Report to the immediate supervisor the need to take corrective or preventive actions, as appropriate, in the face of actual or potential nonconformities of the process to which it belongs.
• Participate in training activities, drills, and those scheduled by occupational safety and health.
• Participate and contribute to the fulfillment of the SG-SST policy and objectives.

Occupational Safety and Health
• To ensure comprehensive health care.
• Actively participate in the formation of the COPASST – Workplace Coexistence Committee – Emergency Brigades, as well as the activities carried out by them.
• Comply with the rules, regulations and instructions of the SG SST.
• Report in a timely manner the dangers and latent risks associated with your workplace.
• Attend the OSH training sessions defined by the SG-SST training program.
• Ensure the maintenance of order and cleanliness in your work area and position.
• Provide clear, truthful and complete information about your health status.
• Immediately report to the OSH area and your immediate supervisor any work accidents, incidents (near misses) and illnesses diagnosed as work-related.
• Report to the immediate supervisor the need to take corrective or preventive actions, as appropriate, in the face of actual or potential nonconformities of the process to which it belongs.
• Participate in training activities, drills, and those scheduled by occupational safety and health.
• Participate and contribute to the fulfillment of the SG-SST policy and objectives.

Experience and skills:
• 1 year of experience working in communications, preferably with an international NGO.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, writing, spelling, and ability to synthesize information.
• Technical skills: intermediate proficiency in the Adobe Suite.
• Creativity, a sense of innovation and the ability to identify needs for the creation of printed and digital pieces.
• Willingness and ability to learn.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
• Demonstration of enthusiasm, availability and commitment.

Preferred qualities:
• Experience of at least one year in handling Adobe suite.
• Organization, planning, initiative, and the ability to handle multiple functions simultaneously without losing attention to detail.
• Capacity for prioritization (prioritization criteria) and timely follow-up.
• Responsiveness to pressure situations.
• Ability to read and understand documents in English.
• Friendly, assertive, professional, and diplomatic behavior (Emotional intelligence mastery).
• Experience and/or interest in topics related to humanitarian work, migration and displacement.

Education:
• Professional in graphic design, advertising, graphic communication, social communication or related fields

Language:
• English – Knowledge and command of English (basic) will be valued.
• Spanish
