Contract type: Consultancy. Project: Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS). Etijah is a non-profit organization based in Cairo specializing in developing, improving and disseminating youth and community development methodologies, research tools and training delivery models.

Background: The Women-Friendly Space (WFS) provides specialized services to women and girls including GBV case management, psychosocial support, information and helpline services, and prevention activities. WFS staff work in a demanding frontline humanitarian environment with regular exposure to complex cases, emotional distress, high workloads and urgent protection concerns. Etijah intends to organize structured staff wellbeing and psychosocial support sessions for WFS staff.

Objective: Provide professional staff wellbeing and psychosocial support sessions focused on stress management, emotional wellbeing, resilience, self-care, peer support and coping with the challenges of frontline humanitarian work. The intervention is preventive and supportive, and does not replace individual clinical psychological or psychiatric services. Objectives include providing a safe, confidential space to reflect on work-related pressures; supporting staff in managing stress, emotional exhaustion and compassion fatigue; strengthening coping mechanisms and self-care; promoting healthy professional boundaries; strengthening peer support and team dynamics; and promoting awareness of referral pathways.

Scope of work: Design and facilitate staff wellbeing and psychosocial support sessions responding to WFS staff needs, using a participatory, trauma-informed and staff-centred methodology in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment, with voluntary participation. The consultant proposes the number, duration and frequency of sessions, minimizing disruption to service delivery.

Expected outputs: a brief technical proposal and methodology; a proposed timeline; facilitation of the agreed sessions; relevant materials or practical tools; and a brief completion report with general observations and recommendations (excluding personally identifiable information or confidential disclosures). Strict confidentiality, safeguarding, PSEA and data protection requirements apply; the sessions must not be used as a performance assessment.

Required qualifications: a valid university degree in Psychology, Psychiatry or a related field; fluency in Arabic and basic English; at least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in MHPSS, group wellbeing activities, counselling or related services; demonstrated experience with humanitarian organizations and/or GBV service providers or frontline humanitarian staff; strong experience facilitating group-based psychosocial support and staff wellbeing activities; strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills. Previous experience within UNFPA humanitarian programmes and familiarity with the needs of frontline humanitarian workers are assets.

Closing date: 2026-09-03
