Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, AI, Digital and Data to join our global team. Reports To: Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). Work Pattern: Hybrid/Remote with flexible working options available. Location: Any approved Save the Children International office location. Contract Length: Permanent. Language Requirements: English. International Travel: Yes, up to 10%. People managed: ~15, including managing multiple teams. Budget Responsibility: ~$2m. Remit: Global.
 
Team Purpose: The AI, Digital and Data team leads how the movement uses AI, digital technology, and data-driven decision-making to deliver more for children. The team steers the global AI portfolio, accelerating existing scaled products that drive operational efficiency and leading the vision on new AI applications that directly drive impact for children. Digital Programming or ICT4D accelerates use of technology in programmes for children, from cash and voucher delivery to countries' broader strategies for digitisation, such as digitising health records or increasing access to learning for remote communities. On the data side, the team is accountable for the data insights programme, driving data-driven decision-making at all levels of the movement, and leads the shift towards a results-based operating model.
 
Role Purpose: The Senior Director is the movement's senior voice and trusted advisor on AI, Digital and Data, responsible for setting strategy, shaping organisational understanding, influencing senior leaders, representing the organisation externally and translating emerging technology trends into practical opportunities. The role owns strategic direction, makes the case for change, holds teams accountable for pace, quality and benefit, and builds capacity and capability across the movement. It is also accountable for identifying future capability needs, building talent pipelines, developing internal talent, and defining and implementing required governance in partnership with the Executive Lead and Transformation Steering Group.
 
Principal Accountabilities include: leading the AI, Digital and Data capability globally; setting and keeping current a prioritised portfolio of use cases with a clear path from pilot to scale; leading delivery of the data and digital enabler within the global strategy; ensuring resource requirements, initiative planning and budget management; defining and measuring financial and non-financial benefits; leading capacity strengthening; supporting the CTO on governance; and partnering with the Transformation Development team on project delivery and continuous improvement.
 
Experience and Skills (Essential): experience leading a technology portfolio or strategy in a large organisation, taking use cases from pilot to scaled adoption with measured benefit; practical working knowledge of modern AI including generative AI and LLMs, agent platforms, build-versus-buy trade-offs, data and platform requirements, and responsible AI practice (hands-on building not required); experience leading global teams across AI, Digital and Data with in-depth knowledge of programme and project practices including risk, benefits and financial management and quality assurance; consulting-type experience engaging stakeholders and delivering results across complex functions; business development experience; highly developed organisational awareness in complex multi-stakeholder structures; team leadership capabilities; excellent written and oral English communication and influencing skills; cultural awareness and experience delivering solutions internationally. Desirable: non-profit sector knowledge; proficiency in French, Spanish or Arabic; experience with organisational design initiatives including setting up a new function in a global organisation. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; demonstrable applied AI or digital delivery work.
