Amref International University (AmIU) focuses on training, research and extension in health sciences, emphasizing promotive, preventive, rehabilitative and palliative health. Responsibilities:
- Instruct trainees in the specific course(s)/units in adherence to the respective curriculum and occupational standards.
- Plan, conduct and assess practicals in the course units assigned.
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans and give lecture notes.
- Prepare internal exams and conduct validation of the exams; carry out continuous assessments.
- Supervise and assess trainees in the course area; mark, grade and enter grades into ERP for the assigned units.
- Supervise trainees on industrial attachment and prepare them for external exams by providing practical technical skills required for effective competency acquisition.
- Maintain appropriate records and make them available as required by the directorate, TVET CDACC or any other relevant body.
- Adhere to the exam preparation and processing schedule; attend all class contact hours as assigned.
- Mentor students, invigilate internal and external examinations, monitor class attendance records and undertake any other duty assigned by the HOD or Director.
Qualifications:
- Degree in the relevant technical area from a recognized institution.
- Ability to teach all the common and core units in Community Health.
- Holder of a Certificate in Pedagogy or PGD in Education.
- Registered by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) as a Trainer.
- Knowledge of KNEC/CDACC examination procedures.
- Relevant teaching experience of at least two years.
- Knowledge and expertise in theory and practical relevant to the area of training.
Skills and competencies: ICT proficiency; mentoring and coaching; problem-solving; self-motivation; fluent oral and written English.
