The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is one of the nation's leading national racial justice legal organizations. Formed in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy, the Lawyers' Committee uses legal advocacy to achieve racial justice, fighting inside and outside the courts to ensure that Black people and other people of color have the voice, opportunity, and power to make the promises of our democracy real. The organization has litigation, public policy, and advocacy programs in Voting Rights, Election Protection, Digital Justice, Economic Justice, Criminal Justice, Economic Opportunities, and Fair Housing, marshaling the resources of the private bar alongside its own staff, with over 1 million pro bono hours billed over the past decade.
About the Role: The Executive Assistant will be a primary strategic partner and force multiplier for the President and Executive Director. This role requires exceptional executive functioning skills to anticipate the President/Executive Director's needs, manage their time efficiently and productively, and execute complex administrative and tactical duties with precision. Job Type: Full-Time. Union Affiliation: Non-Union. Accountable to: President and Executive Director.
Responsibilities: Serve as primary point of contact for all internal and external inquiries, protecting and prioritizing the President/Executive Director's time; manage a complex, high-volume calendar and proactively address scheduling conflicts; ensure the President/Executive Director is appropriately briefed for meetings, gathering materials in advance; partner with the Communications Team to produce executive and internal communications, including speeches and remarks; partner with the Development Team to prepare for donor engagements, cultivation, briefings, and travel; design and maintain systems for tracking tasks, action items, and deadlines across concurrent work streams; coordinate intricate travel itineraries including flights, lodging, ground transportation, and meal reservations; coordinate and organize internal and external meetings, including logistics, agendas, and minutes; prepare reports, correspondence, and briefings and track progress on key initiatives; attend high-level meetings to take notes and ensure follow-up; handle highly sensitive information with absolute discretion; be available for evening and weekend events as needed.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least 8 years of experience providing direct support to C-Suite Executives; excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to mirror the President/Executive Director's voice and tone; superior task initiation, emotional regulation, working memory, and cognitive flexibility; demonstrated organizational and project management skills; exceptional attention to detail and anticipatory decision-making; professionalism and diplomatic skills; ability to interact with high-level individuals internally and externally; ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment; sound judgment, flexibility, and adaptability; ability to multitask across numerous projects; proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced MS Outlook scheduling; experience with project management software and business-related databases; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse community; strategic planning skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to work long hours and travel up to 20% of the time.
Salary: The expected range for this role is $90,000 – $110,000. Benefits include healthcare coverage (medical, dental & vision), parental leave, 403(b) contribution with employer match, voluntary short- and long-term disability, and an employer-paid monthly cell phone stipend.
