Purpose of Job: The Associate, HROD Portfolio Management Office (PMO), supports the coordination and delivery of PMO activities across HROD transformation and change initiatives. The role applies strong multi-process understanding to help maintain effective portfolio governance, planning, reporting, risk and dependency management, working independently on standard and moderately complex tasks within agreed frameworks and guidance. The role holder coordinates inputs from project teams and relevant stakeholders, interprets established PMO standards and applies judgement to resolve day-to-day delivery issues or escalate where required. They contribute to improving PMO processes, tools and ways of working, provide practical guidance to more junior colleagues, and deliver high-quality outputs that support effective decision-making.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Coordinate agreed PMO activities and support refinement of PMO objectives, standards and ways of working; maintain interfaces and engagement channels with key stakeholders; map and document PMO processes; develop and maintain PMO templates, tools and guidance. Coordinate regular PMO rhythm and governance activities including periodic roadmap planning sessions, risk and issue review meetings, HRMT update briefings and HR Steering Committee meetings; track all actions arising from PMO sessions; in collaboration with the HROD Finance Manager, track and maintain funded project budgets. Prepare clear and accurate updates for senior stakeholders highlighting key insights, risks, issues and dependencies; support targeted change communications with the HROD Communications Lead. Govern the Solution Change Process, liaising with stakeholders on prioritisation of outstanding system enhancement requests balanced against the Compass HR programme, and work with the HR Technical Lead to identify dependencies or duplication. Manage lifecycle artefacts: review and refine fortnightly status report tooling, engage with Enterprise PMO (EPMO) to align approach, and support stage gate materials. Maintain the HROD Transformation Roadmap, engage regularly with HROD project managers to review progress and identify portfolio impacts, dependencies and delivery risks, and support quarterly roadmap planning sessions.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications — Essential: can-do, excellence-by-default attitude; above average organisational, interpersonal and communication skills; exceptional attention to detail; self-starting, proactive and collaborative problem-solving; experience working in a programme, project or PMO environment supporting delivery across multiple processes or workstreams; experience developing and delivering high-quality visual, verbal and written communication; experience working across departmental boundaries, particularly with Finance and IT; ability to prepare high-quality information for senior stakeholders; experience working independently within tight deadlines; proven ability to coordinate competing priorities and track actions; excellent written and oral English; Bachelor degree or equivalent experience. Desirable: experience implementing SAP for HR; SAP Activate, PRINCE2 knowledge/certifications; knowledge of JIRA.
