Who We Are
Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a global nonprofit organisation working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalysing the rapid development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. With 30 years of internationally recognized expertise on climate policy and a fierce commitment to exploring all potential solutions, CATF is a pragmatic, non-ideological advocacy group with the bold ideas needed to address climate change. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

What You'll Do
Europe is one of the world's most important regions for climate policy, energy innovation, and emissions reduction. CATF has built a strong presence in Europe by advancing pragmatic climate solutions, including carbon management, clean hydrogen, nuclear energy, advanced geothermal, fusion energy, and methane mitigation.
The Senior Director, European Advocacy will set the strategic direction for CATF's work across Europe leading regional growth and impact, overseeing the EU and Central and Eastern Europe advocacy teams, and shaping future opportunities for expansion across the region. This is a fully remote role that can be based anywhere in Europe, offering the opportunity to lead a geographically distributed team and influence climate policy across the continent.

* Regional Strategic Leadership – Lead the development and execution of CATF's pan-European policy advocacy strategy, aligning regional priorities with global goals and program objectives.
* Enterprise Governance – Serve on our senior leadership team to align priorities, resources, and investments across the organization.
* People Leadership & Team Development – Develop and empower a high-performing, geographically distributed team of 7 policy experts and consultants.
* Fundraising & Partnership Development – Lead regional fundraising in partnership with the Development team, accountable for revenue growth, donor engagement and sustainable funding for European work.
* Policy & Advocacy Leadership – Guide regional advocacy efforts that advance practical climate solutions across Europe's complex political, economic, and energy landscape.
* Thought Leadership & Communications Oversight – Elevate CATF's external voice and manage risk by ensuring high-quality, consistent messaging—serving as the final reviewer for external-facing materials such as reports, policy briefs, white papers, and press releases.
* External Engagement & Influence – Represent CATF with European institutions, national governments, funders, industry leaders, media, and other high-level stakeholders.
* Operational & Resource Management – Steward regional resources, including team planning, budgets, consultant support, and priority-setting across European initiatives.

What You'll Bring
You will succeed in this role if you are a strategic, collaborative leader who can bring structure to complexity, build trust across cultures and institutions, and turn ambitious climate goals into focused action. You should be comfortable leading through influence, making sound decisions in dynamic environments, and empowering others to do their best work.

Desired experience
* Significant senior leadership experience, including at least 10 years of progressive experience in management, strategy, policy, advocacy, or a related field.
* Deep understanding of European energy and climate policy, political dynamics, and private sector engagement, or closely related experience in a similar sector.
* Experience working across European Union institutions, Member States, including Central and Eastern Europe, UK or other European policy environments.
* Proven ability to shape and lead regional or multinational strategies in complex policy, nonprofit, advocacy, or technical environments.
* Strong track record of engaging senior stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, funders, and multilateral organizations.
* At least 6 years of experience directly leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams across cultures, locations, or disciplines.
* Experience managing significant budgets, resources, priorities, and organizational tradeoffs in a mission-driven environment.
* Fluency in English and the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external audiences at senior levels.
* A leadership style grounded in curiosity, collaboration, persistence, integrity, and commitment to measurable climate impact.

Preferred experience
* Familiarity with CATF's breadth of work in Europe at the EU level and in the CEE, across topics including methane, industries, carbon management, electricity, nuclear, fusion, geothermal, and transports.
* Additional European language skills.
* Background working in global, remote, or highly matrixed organizations.

What We Provide
An opportunity to shape climate policy and accelerate practical climate solutions across one of the world's most influential regions.
* A mission-driven role supporting climate innovation, energy system transformation, and emissions reduction across Europe.
* A collaborative and intellectually curious culture where diverse perspectives are valued and bold, practical solutions to climate change are encouraged
* Exposure to cross-functional collaboration across policy, advocacy, technical, communications, executive leadership, and development teams.
* A flexible, remote working environment within Europe, with travel for meetings, conferences, and strategic engagement in Europe, the U.S., and globally.
* An excellent benefits package and a competitive salary based on experience and location.
* Benefits aligned to your country of employment.
