Finance Coordinator- CCRP

Location: Eastern/Ashanti Region, Ghana

Company: Plan International

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.

We won’t stop until we are all equal.

The Opportunity
The Finance Coordinator oversees and coordinates all project financial operations for the Cocoa Community Resilience Programme, ensuring effective budget management, financial reporting, and compliance with donor, government, and Plan International standards. The role supports day-to-day financial planning, monitoring, and partner financial management, including oversight of community-managed funds and associated risks, while contributing to overall project implementation.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in SAP and maintain proper documentation for audit.
• Prepare and submit financial reports (monthly BvA, quarterly, annual) and support decision-making with analysis.
• Lead budgeting processes, monitor budget vs. expenditure, and advise on variances and corrective actions.
• Manage partner financial reporting and liquidations, ensuring compliance with donor and organisational standards.
• Oversee cash flow, forecasting, and reconciliation to maintain adequate project funds and accurate financial records.
• Enforce internal financial controls, review vouchers, manage payments, and implement audit recommendations.
• Strengthen partner financial capacity through training, coaching, and standardised reporting tools.
• Identify, monitor, and mitigate financial risks while ensuring compliance with policies and donor requirements.
• Support project coordination through regular engagement with programme and finance teams.
• Conduct field visits to partners and provide ongoing technical support to ensure strong financial management.

About You
We are looking to recruit person (s) with:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline
• Professional qualification or part qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICA Ghana) is a strong advantage

• Demonstrated knowledge of donor funded programme finance, preferably in development, education, child protection, or livelihoods programmes
• Strong competence in financial systems, budgeting tools, spreadsheets, and accounting software, including SAP
• Minimum 3-5 years’ progressive experience in project or programme finance coordination, preferably within an NGO/INGO or donor-funded multi-partner programme
• Proven experience in budget planning, monitoring, variance analysis, and forecasting for large, multi-component projects
• Hands-on experience in partner financial management, including partner assessments, fund disbursements, liquidations, and review of financial reports
• Strong track record in ensuring compliance with donor regulations, Government of Ghana financial requirements, and internal organisational financial policies

Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the very heart of everything that Plan International stands for.

We want Plan International to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Plan International is based on a culture of inclusivity and we strive to create a workplace environment that ensures every team, in every office, in every country, is rich in diverse people, thoughts, and ideas.

We foster an organisational culture that embraces our commitment to racial justice, gender equality, girls’ rights and inclusion.

Plan International believes that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organisation, do everything we can to keep children safe.
