CLIMACT is a Belgian firm supporting organisations through the energy and climate transition. From our Brussels headquarters, we work with private companies, public authorities and other organisations across Belgium and Europe, from long-term transition scenarios through to near-term strategy and change management, combining tailor-made consulting with our own models and off-the-shelf software. We're looking for a curious, mission and data-driven Junior Consultant ready to dive into the heart of the energy and climate transition from day one.
What you'll own
You'll join a multidisciplinary team of consultants working with energy companies, public authorities and industry stakeholders on the legal and regulatory dimensions of the energy transition. You will help clients navigate complex frameworks, manage regulatory risk, and turn policy into actionable strategy.
Concretely, you will:
* Monitor, analyse and interpret legal and regulatory frameworks at Belgian and European levels;
* Support clients in identifying opportunities and managing regulatory risks arising from the energy transition;
* Write solution-oriented legal opinions, regulatory analyses and position papers, including handling techno-economic information where relevant;
* Assist in building, implementing and delivering advocacy strategies that further the energy transition;
* Draft, review and negotiate contractual documentation related to energy projects;
* Interact with regulatory authorities, public administrations, and industry stakeholders;
* Provide day-to-day legal support to Climact and its teams on contractual and corporate matters;
* Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and help shape how Climact adopts legal technology tools.
What you'll bring
* A Master's degree in law;
* 1-3 years of relevant professional experience is highly valued - though candidates who demonstrate the required competencies through other paths are equally welcome;
* Knowledge of Belgian administrative law and European law; experience in renewable energy or climate regulation is a strong asset;
* Ability to navigate sector-specific legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g. energy support schemes, ETS, energy markets, carbon markets, sustainability regulation);
* Bilingual FR/NL; excellent English;
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately;
* A sense of accountability, ownership and commitment to delivering high-quality work;
* Client-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams;
* Ability to use generative AI and legal technology tools responsibly and critically.
