Context
Vision Development Organization is a national women-led humanitarian and development organization working across multiple sectors including Education, Health and Nutrition, Protection, Livelihoods, WASH, Emergency Response, Gender, Advocacy, and Community Resilience in Afghanistan.
The organization seeks to strengthen its institutional fundraising, partnership engagement, donor coordination, and program development capacities through the recruitment of a qualified and experienced Head of Programs.
The position will play a key role in identifying funding opportunities, leading proposal development processes, coordinating grants management, strengthening donor relations, and supporting strategic growth and sustainability of the organization.
The Head of Program will support the day-to-day planning and implementation of the project outputs, including the organisation of key project events and supporting communication with partners and other key stakeholders. The incumbent will also support substantive research on key thematic issues within the project.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead overall program portfolio of VDO and provide strategic direction and technical oversight across education, health, livelihoods, emergency response, protection, education, and development programs.
- Ensuring program implementation in light of program policy of VDO
- Supervise program teams and ensure quality implementation, donor compliance, and achievement of results.
- Represent VDO with donors, UN agencies, government, and partners.
- Contribute to organizational strategy, institutional fundraising, partnership engagement, donor coordination, and program development
General Profile / Education & Experience
- Bachelors/ Master’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of senior program management experience in humanitarian and development sectors.
- Experience managing multi-sector and multi-donor portfolios.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent donor engagement and reporting experience.
- Experience working on projects in South Asia considered an advantage;
- Experience in engaging, cultivating and influencing stakeholders is an advantage;
- Experience of working in an international context, e.g. in an intergovernmental organization, considered an advantage;
- Languages: Fluent English required; knowledge of Dari and Persian an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to provinces and field locations
Terms of Contract
- International Post.
- Fixed term appointment for12 months (3-month probation); based in Kabul.
- Remuneration – Competitive with NGO standards.
