Responsibilities
The Protection Facilitator has the responsibility of ensuring that the project is implemented under criteria of centrality of child protection, ensuring age and gender approaches. It must promote adapted methodologies that guarantee action without harm, the participation of children and the mitigation of risks of protection of children and adolescents with the beneficiary families.

1. Development Management based on Humanitarian Programs:
• Ensure the integration of the child approach and the centrality of child protection in all response actions related to the humanitarian sectors that are implemented in the territory of implementation of the project.
• Promote methodologies for the correct integration of measures and actions that promote the protection of children and adolescents at the family and community level, including key messages and materials for training caregivers during the days of family identification and distribution of supplies.
• Ensure the correct adequacy and implementation of PEAS, AAP and Safeguard policies during the implementation of the response.
• Guide the identification and safe referral of cases of children and adolescents and their linkage with Protection and Protection System responses at the territorial level.
• Establish and maintain key inter-institutional relationships at the local level to strengthen the coordination and integration of the centrality of child protection during the execution of the project, as well as safe referrals for comprehensive care.
• Collaborate closely with the Protection specialist of the country office, to ensure the coherence and centrality of protection in the implementation of humanitarian action, alignment with all areas related to the response.
• Collaborate with the members of the team, in the preparation of intermediate and final reports required by the donor and Plan International.
• Ensure the effective implementation of Plan International's institutional approaches (protection, gender equality, inclusion, resilience and meaningful participation), ensuring that all programme activities are in the best interests of children.

2. Safeguarding Responsibilities:
• Apply all institutional regulations to ensure the safeguarding of children, adolescents and participants in the programs.
• Ensure that safe environments are generated during interventions and safe practices are promoted with children and adolescents and establishing mitigation measures to prevent situations of PSHEA and Safeguard during implementation.
• Collect the corresponding documentation, follow up and/or participate in the evaluations of the safeguarding standards.
• Report any concerns about child abuse or maltreatment or failure to comply with the Safeguarding Policy.
• Inform and train children and adolescents on self-protection factors and the culture of reporting any threat of violation of their rights.
• Apply safeguard tools (risk matrix, etc.)

3. Gender and Inclusion Responsibilities:
• Actively promote and practice gender equality in all areas of its institutional and operational work so that children, but especially girls, adolescents and women, develop their full potential.
• Use inclusive language and communication that does not reinforce gender stereotypes or exclude any group. This also includes the use of images and communication materials that reflect the diversity of the community.
• Identify and address potential barriers in communities that impede children's full participation, access to and participation in project resources and opportunities.

4. Protection
• Identify and evaluate situations of risk and violation of the rights of children and adolescents.
• Provide initial care, emotional support (psychological first aid) and accompaniment to victims of violence, abuse, neglect or other forms of violation.
• Apply immediate protection measures, in accordance with current institutional and regulatory standards.
• Guarantee confidentiality, non-revictimization and dignified treatment.
• Position the project in the prioritized municipalities and communities with the different actors to promote practices within the framework of the fulfillment of children's rights.
• Actively participate in the planning and implementation processes of child protection actions to be carried out in the different municipalities and prioritized communities.
• Represent Plan Guatemala, in the spaces of the municipal and departmental protection tables.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Understands a wide range of procedures, answering questions about what needs to be done in specific local situations that may have a significant degree of complexity. The emphasis is on finding immediate solutions with clear implementation points at different levels of the organizational structure. Initiative is often required.

Information management
• Contribute to the construction of the mapping of key actors in the implementation and advocacy of the project.
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly, intermediate, final and special reports on project activities.
• Collect and share information for the elaboration of informative infographics to socialize at the level of humanitarian actors.

Training
• Build the planning and development of training processes at the level of service providers, municipal authorities and stakeholders under gender and child protection approaches.

Collaboration and Coordination:
• To serve as a liaison with municipal and community authorities, service providers, among others, to ensure the protection of children.

Other Features:
• Support in the performance of other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Safeguarding
Ensures that Plan International's global safeguarding policy and PII policy to prevent sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse; and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully integrated in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy, including the relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as appropriate to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International's Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with appropriate procedures.

Academic Qualifications and Experience
• Education: Bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree intern in social work, psychology, or related.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in humanitarian or development projects, with a focus on child protection, violence prevention, case management, and psychosocial services.
• Experience in the design and implementation of community and psychosocial intervention strategies in contexts of crisis or vulnerability.
• Experience in the development of technical guides, training and data documentation in child protection projects.

Required knowledge
• Child protection, violence prevention, GBV/GBV, Centrality of Protection.
• Development of competencies in children and adolescents, participatory methodologies, MHPSS and positive parenting.
• Operation of the protection system and care and referral routes.
• Child protection system, legal frameworks and public policies on the rights of children.
• Gender and inclusion approach, humanitarian principles and safeguarding.
• Basic knowledge in monitoring, evaluation and management of social projects.
