Position Objective

 

The Total Rewards Specialist, reporting to the Global HR Centers of Excellences Manager, will play a critical role in designing and implementing frameworks that support the Fund’s strategy for compensation, benefits, recognition and rewards. The Total Rewards Specialist will act as a subject matter expert and primary implementer of the Total Rewards strategy, creating programs that attract, nurture, retain, and motivate a diverse international workforce. This position collaborates closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and operational teams and ensures timely recommendation and advise on competitive compensation practices compliant with the Fund’s Administrative Guidelines on Human Resources and procedures.

 

  • Design and implement global compensation and benefits frameworks that are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the principles of the GCF compensation philosophy.
  • Conduct timely and comprehensive market benchmarking and job evaluations to ensure alignment of salary structures and pay with peer comparator organisations.
  • Develop integrated recognition, reward and award systems, both monetary (e.g., salary increases and bonuses) and non-monetary recognition programs (e.g., spot awards, team incentives, service awards, peer recognition).
  • Lead updates to Total Rewards policies and guidelines in line with best practices, evolving needs of the Fund, modifications to staff regulations and rules, as appropriate.
  • Translate the Fund’s compensation philosophy into operational models that support growth, staff engagement, and performance.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to ensure total rewards initiatives are seamlessly implemented across the business units and provide clarity and interpretation and application on total rewards – particularly on aspects of compensation and benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to gather inputs on business needs and emerging issues to inform reward program design and delivery.
  • Liaise with peer organizations, including the International Finance Institutions (IFI) network, and other relevant groups and service providers to stay informed of practices, trends and foster external collaboration in compensation, benefits and rewards. Attend HR networking events — both within the public/development sector and the private sector.
  • Contribute to internal communication campaigns and train HR Business Partners on initiatives that promote understanding of rewards and recognition programs.
  • Work closely with the other HR Business Partners (HRBP) to ensure that their Business Units (BUs) are compliant with the Fund’s Administrative Guidelines on Human Resources and procedures, as well as to map the needs to input in the Fund’s Total Rewards strategy.
  • Lead the implementation of reward programs, including annual salary review (and/or adjustment) cycles, benefits enrollment, and recognition initiatives.
  • Support the payroll function by validating salary and benefit inputs, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and directly taking on the role as payroll administrator when required.
  • Develop tools, models, and dashboards to analyze compensation data, forecast reward costs, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ensure information systems reflect accurate and up-to-date compensation and benefits data in close coordination with HR Business Partners.
  • Monitor and assess program performance using defined metrics and recommend adjustments and improvements based on feedback and outcomes.

 

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

 

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration, or relevant fields. A Bachelor’s degree with additional 2 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree requirement;
  • At least 11 years of relevant work experience in the international setting, with demonstrated professional competence and success in C&B or Rewards management, as well as ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment; 
  • Previous experience in a HR Business Partners model is an asset;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language an advantage.
