Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced Head of Institutional Funding & Partnerships. The role will lead a small team to deliver Fauna & Flora's institutional funding ambition in the fast-evolving external context. The role is responsible for the development and coordination of institutional donor partnerships, assuring the submission of high quality and well-targeted proposals, and helping to create an enabling environment for securing and managing institutional funding from existing and new donors (such as Defra, FCDO, EU, AFD, climate and environment multilateral funds and multi-donor pooled funds).
Reporting to the Director of Global Policy and Government Relations and with a matrix report to the Global Director for Fundraising, the role will develop and implement the institutional funding strategy, and leverage government engagement on policy and technical matters. The Head of Institutional Funding & Partnerships will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of institutional funding; keeping abreast of the external landscape and emerging risks; scoping donors and funding opportunities; leveraging and supporting programme teams; and qualification of funding opportunities and negotiation of donor requirements / contracts. (Note: Fundraising from trusts/foundations, major donors and our supporters is handled by other teams)
Demonstrable knowledge of the institutional funding landscape and experience of external engagement and pre-positioning with donors and consortia partners is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing and developing six and seven figure partnerships with institutional funders and an in depth understanding of institutional donor processes, requirements, priorities and internal structures.
You will also have outstanding communication skills and ability to analyse complex information and present it in an accessible format for different audiences. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, with ability to present, negotiate and persuade at all levels with confidence and credibility. You will have excellent people management skills, with ability to motivate and performance manage individuals to achieve excellence.
