Background
The proposed project will be implemented in Kajiado County. The project focuses on promoting health, nutrition, and child rights in the county. This project will be implemented by Maasai Kajiado Women Dairy Cooperative Society Ltd. The project is funded by Radion Aid, Sweden through We Effect. The project has an overall objective as; To contribute to improved health, nutrition and rights of children between 0-12 years and adolescent girls and boys (13-18 years) in Kajiado County. The project is expected to commence around June 2026 and therefore seeks to recruit a project officer who will be responsible for day-to-day management.

Job Purpose
The Project Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting project progress. The role involves close collaboration with government agencies, community structures, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and regularly review project implementation plans, cash flow and manage project budget
* Coordinate and implement project activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
* Plan, implement, monitor and report project progress to the donor with support from the project manager
* Organize coordination meetings at sub-county, county and where need be at national level to bring together stakeholders involved in child protection, child rights or any other component of focus in the project
* Support the rollout of community-based interventions on maternal and child nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation.
* Spearhead facilitation of community dialogues and behavior change initiatives on nutrition and health.
* Ensure project activities align with national policies and county development plans.
* Work closely with government entities including Ministries of Health, Education, Public Health & Sanitation and children's protection and rights departments.
* Support strengthening of child protection systems by collaborating with the Department of Children Services and the community.
* Facilitate awareness campaigns on child rights and safeguarding practices.
* Prepare regular progress reports, success stories, and documentation.
* Support evaluations, learning, and adaptation of project strategies.
* Train and mentor community health volunteers, caregivers, and local stakeholders.
* Ensure adherence to donor requirements, organizational policies, and government regulations.
* Promote accountability, safeguarding, and ethical standards in all project activities.
* Represent the organization in forums to make presentations on project progress, lessons learned and best practices

Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Nutrition, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Community Development, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in public health, nutrition, and/or WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects.
* Experience in child protection and child rights programming is also highly desired
* Knowledge of relevant Ministry operations including children's department operations and their working is an added advantage
* Strong understanding of community-based, community-led approaches and participatory development.

* Strong project management and coordination skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
* Knowledge of nutrition-sensitive programming and WASH integration
* Strong report writing and data analysis skills
* High level of integrity and commitment to child safeguarding
* Experience with donor-funded projects
