DRC Programme Overview:
DanChurchAid (DCA) has been operational in the Democratic Republic of Congo for over two decades, delivering integrated humanitarian and resilience programmes in conflict-affected and displacement-prone areas.
DCA’s portfolio in eastern DRC combines protection, cash assistance, livelihoods, mine action, shelter, with a strong focus on protection mainstreaming, accountability to affected populations, and nexus-oriented approaches.
The role:
DCA is seeking an experienced Protection Project Coordinator to lead the operational implementation of ECHO- and OCHA US-funded projects in the health zones of Mweso and Kayna, North Kivu, The Democratic Republic of Congo. The role ensures that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with DCA’s strategic objectives as well as donor requirements. Working in a complex and challenging environment such as the DRC, the Project coordinator plays a key role in adapting project activities to the local context while maintaining high standards of quality, accountability, and performance.

Based in Mweso and working under the supervision of the Area Manager, the Protection Project Coordinator will define and roll out the protection project strategy, ensure quality and harmonisation across multiple operational areas, and strengthen protection integration across sectors.
Key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of ECHO- and US OCHA-funded projects in the Mweso and Kayna health zones in North Kivu, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and local needs.
- Manage project resources, including budgets, staff, and materials, ensuring that projects are delivered within scope and budget.
- Ensure that the project progress is regularly monitored, evaluated, and reported in accordance with donor requirements and DCA internal standards, while integrating lessons learned to improve future project delivery.
- Identify and manage risks associated with project implementation in a complex and challenging operational environment, ensuring the continuity and success of DCA’s work.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment to ensure high-quality project implementation.
- Participate in proposal development, donor reporting, and team performance, ensuring full safeguarding/PSEA compliance.
Your Profile:
- As a person we expect that you resonate with our purpose, and we imagine you have:
- Master’s degree in law, social sciences, international relations or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in protection in humanitarian/post-conflict settings, with strong coordination experience (general protection, GBV CM, MHPSS, CP).
- Proven track record in complex, multi-site operations with access/security constraints
- Ability to mainstream protection across sectors (incl. cash), deliver protection analysis/monitoring and evidence-based advocacy, and build team capacity through training.
- Experience with MEAL and protection information management; eastern DRC experience an asset.
- Full professional proficiency in French and English (spoken and written).
- Great leadership and interpersonal skills.
- High level of autonomy, adaptability and problem-solving capacity.
- Ability to work under pressure in volatile environments.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles, accountability and ethical practice.
What we offer:
Duty station: Mweso- North Kivu
Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months (renewable subject to funding)
Start date: 1-15 June 2026
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience and DCA salary scale
