Education Globale et Développement (EGD) is an internationally recognized non-profit Belgian based organisation dedicated to advancing Peace and Value Education through transformative and inclusive learning approaches.
For over 25 years, EGD has worked across five core dimensions of education: Peace, Values, Cooperation, Environment, and Global Citizenship. It integrates learning and skill cultivation in areas such as friendship, emotions, universal human values, conflict resolution and mediation, intercultural dialogue, and global consciousness of peace.
EGD works with worldwide partners, institutions, and local stakeholders implementing impactful programs that promote simultaneous personal and social transformation. Through active pedagogy and cooperative learning methodologies, it fosters deep creative reflection and meaningful action across diverse cultural contexts.
EGD is:
- A recognized National Youth Organization in Belgium
- A European Youth Organization
- Accredited by the European Youth Foundation under the Council of Europe
- Holder of Special Consultative Status since 2018 with the United Nations Economic and Social Council
EGD works around three flagship programs:
Peace and Value Education towards weekly Peace Classes from pre-primary schools to university levels, Creative Peace Workshops and Day Camps for all ages and social groups.
Integration and Interculturality towards Belgian and Global Citizenship trainings, intercultural events, study get-togethers and dialogue.
School of the World - A center for lifelong and life-wide learning towards study, training especially for teachers and educational authorities, and research and publications in the relevant fields.
Some other actions such as capacity building trainings and orientations in peace and values, sustained assistance to people and organizations, supplement these above three flagship programs across diverse settings in education and leadership.
EGD aims to instill peace and value-based learning in formal, non-formal, and informal settings--empowering individuals, communities, and institutions to contribute from local to global levels.
