Recruitment Projects and Operations Associate

Seeking an operations expert responsible for leading the Recruitment Operations function, overseeing the projects function, and leading change management efforts to ensure a unified approach across our various recruitment priorities.

Location: Kenya

Career Level: Professionals

About One Acre Fund
Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

About the Role
As the Recruitment Projects and Operations Associate, you will be the catalyst for change across the team, converting strategy into action, embedding new ways of working to ensure a unified approach across our various recruitment priorities, and ensuring that improvements stick. You will lead the Recruitment Operations function, own our project portfolio, and resolve non-routine challenges to keep the recruitment process running smoothly.

We are looking for someone who thrives on turning ideas into reality and seeing projects through to completion. If you take pride in improving how a department operates, not just following processes but actively enhancing them, this role is for you. The role calls for dynamism and a hands-on mindset, with equal comfort shaping strategy and diving into the details.

You don't need prior experience in recruitment. Candidates from non-HR backgrounds who are passionate about people and organisational effectiveness are encouraged to apply.

You will report directly to the Recruitment Senior Manager.

Responsibilities
Lead Change Management:
• Convert team strategy into action by leading change management efforts for internal initiatives, working with internal and external stakeholders to rapidly roll out and embed improvements into our day-to-day work

Projects Champion:
• Take overall ownership of key recruitment projects, providing active oversight and holding stakeholders accountable to timelines and outcomes from initial concept through to completion and integration into operational workflows.

Recruitment Operations Leadership:
• Lead the Recruitment Operations team with a mandate to not just maintain existing workflows, but to actively improve and modernise them, freeing recruiter bandwidth for core hiring work and co-owning the process optimisation workstream to drive efficiency gains and enhance candidate and hiring manager experiences.

Tech Stack Management:
• Optimise tech spend by efficiently managing existing contracts and streamlining the onboarding and offboarding of products. Identify and implement cost-saving measures to ensure a lean, high-performing recruitment tech stack.

People management:
• Provide direct management to 1–3 Operations team members over time.

Pipeline Management:
• From time to time, directly manage a limited number of recruitment pipelines (1–3 max) to maintain a grounded, practical understanding of core hiring work, using those insights to influence broader operational strategy.

Career Growth and Development
We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. We hold career reviews every six months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and build a rewarding long-term career.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
• Experience leading change management initiatives, including building stakeholder buy-in and ensuring new ways of working are adopted and sustained.
• 3+ years of experience in a project management, operations, or strategy role.
• A track record of improving processes and systems, with the analytical ability to diagnose what is broken and design better solutions.
• Experience leading or managing small teams of about 3-5.
• Experience working with a diverse culture and different stakeholders.

Preferred Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Duration: 2 years (Renewable)

Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya, or Kigali, Rwanda

Benefits: Health insurance, housing, and comprehensive benefits

Eligibility: This role is only open to citizens or permanent residents of Kenya and Rwanda

Application Deadline
Please note that we hire on a rolling basis which means that applications are reviewed and processed on a continuous basis until a hire is made.
