The Protection From Violence Coordinator leads and oversees protection from violence programming in the Unity Area Office, South Sudan (duty station: Rubkona). The role reports to the Field Manager and receives technical support from the Protection Specialist. Contract length is 6 months, with travel of about 80%.
Key responsibilities:
- Line management of Protection from Violence project field staff and technical guidance to protection staff.
- Lead and oversee implementation of all Unity Area protection programming (projects and activities), ensuring donor requirements are met.
- Plan, implement and follow up protection activities, including budgets, procurement, implementation and spending plans.
- Manage a delegated portfolio of Protection from Violence projects and provide regular progress reports.
- Represent NRC in area-level humanitarian coordination structures, including protection cluster and sub-cluster fora.
- Build relationships with government entities, UN agencies and local/international NGOs.
- Contribute to proposals for follow-on or expansion funding and to project work plans, M&E and recruitment plans.
- Conduct field visits to monitor quality of implementation; build capacity of project staff.
- Promote the rights of IDPs and returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
Requirements:
- University degree in social science, law, political science or a related subject.
- Experience in a protection position in a humanitarian/recovery context, including delivering technical capacity-building trainings.
- At least three years of project management experience, including staff supervision and policy compliance.
- Significant experience in monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
- Prior experience representing an I/NGO and advocating in public forums (e.g. Protection Cluster).
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Fluency in written and spoken English, and Arabic or Kurdish.
