Amref International University (AmIU) is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Community Health Practice to join its public health faculty in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars and skills-based sessions in Public Health to graduate and undergraduate students.
- Provide technical assistance in the design, development, review and implementation of curricula and syllabi.
- Develop, moderate and administer examinations; participate in internal and external moderation of university examinations.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, and mentor junior academic staff including graduate assistants, tutorial fellows, visiting lecturers and adjunct faculty.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in an area of specialization; apply for and manage research and health development grants; publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
- Supervise postgraduate researchers (Master's and PhD) in proposal writing, thesis development and examination.
- Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation and audit activities for training resources and practice sites.
- Participate in departmental, school and University committees; support planning, work plans, schedules and budgets.
- Support student recruitment, orientation and onboarding, and represent the department at academic and public engagements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- PhD in Public Health or a health-related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
- At least five years of university teaching experience in Public Health at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Demonstrated postgraduate supervision, curriculum design and review experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Sound knowledge of research methodology, research ethics and academic integrity; familiarity with postgraduate policies and higher education regulatory standards.
- Experience in quality assurance, curriculum review or accreditation is an added advantage.
