Amref International University is recruiting a part-time Senior Lecturer in Public Health (Health Management/Informatics/Health Economics).
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars and skills-based sessions in Public Health to graduate and undergraduate students.
- Provide technical assistance in the design, development, review and implementation of curricula and syllabi.
- Develop, moderate and administer examinations; participate in internal and external moderation of university examinations.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, and mentor junior academic staff.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research within an area of specialization; apply for and manage research and health development grants; publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
- Supervise postgraduate researchers (Master's and PhD candidates) in proposal writing, thesis development and examination.
- Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation and audit activities, and participate in departmental, school and University committees.
- Support student recruitment, orientation and onboarding, and help develop training guidelines, policies and business plans.
Qualifications and experience:
- PhD in Public Health (Health Management/Informatics/Health Economics) or a related health discipline from a recognized institution.
- Training in Health Informatics, Health Records or Health Management.
- Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
- At least five years of university teaching experience in Public Health at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, postgraduate supervision, and reviewing proposals, theses and dissertations.
- Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Sound knowledge of research methodology, ethics and academic integrity; familiarity with postgraduate policies and higher education regulatory standards.
- Strong pedagogical, assessment, grant-writing, communication, analytical, mentoring and ICT skills.
