Save the Children is recruiting a Program Operations Coordinator (Grade 3, 12-month contract, permanent/full-time listing) based in Borno, Nigeria. The Programme Operations Coordinator (POC) supports effective programme delivery across the BAY states by strengthening programme operations, reporting, PRIME adoption, data quality, knowledge management and project start-up processes. The role works closely with Programme Managers, MEAL, Awards and Operations teams to ensure timely, compliant and quality implementation, reporting, monitoring and continuous improvement across humanitarian programmes. Reports to the Deputy Director, Programs Operations - Humanitarian; no direct reports.
Key responsibilities:
- Reporting: coordinate with Awards Management, program and MEAL teams to ensure humanitarian project reports are completed on time and reviewed; support field teams on donor-level report writing; escalate programme concerns; work with the rapid response team on emergency response initiation; support review of monthly transaction lists and budget versus actuals.
- Proposal development: support business development and technical teams, share context-specific data, and ensure risk assessments for new awards are completed.
- Programme management support: monitor humanitarian awards including PRIME RAG status, IPTT and BvAs monthly; standardise reporting templates and data collection tools; track BVA/APRM actions and open purchase orders; support start-up of new projects.
- Knowledge management: develop accessible documents, ensure compliant document storage, train staff and partners, document best practices, and act as focal point for member and VIP visits.
- Programme operations and delivery support: support PMM and Projects on Track initiatives, follow up improvement actions with field offices, contribute to monthly and quarterly operations reviews, and support monitoring of Country Office KPIs.
- PRIME coordination: maintain action trackers, coordinate user access, develop guidance and training, maintain a network of PRIME champions, and analyse PRIME adoption and data quality.
Requirements: University degree or equivalent work experience; at least 3 years' experience in programme operations or programme management with an NGO in a humanitarian setting; experience in programme reporting, project start-up/close-out, monitoring, data quality and budget tracking; experience with PRIME or similar systems; understanding of MEAL, IPTT, BVA, risk management and donor compliance; strong report writing, coordination and analytical skills; excellent written and spoken English; ability to work in complex and insecure environments. Desirable: emergency response exposure, project management skills, proposal development experience, Save the Children systems knowledge. Child safeguarding Level 3 applies.
