Nigeria continues to face a complex and protracted humanitarian crisis driven by armed conflict, insecurity, climate-related shocks, displacement, and economic challenges. NRC has been operating in Nigeria since 2015, delivering humanitarian assistance and durable solutions to conflict-affected and displaced populations across Education, ICLA, Shelter, WASH, and Protection.
The purpose of the Head of Programme position is to develop and ensure implementation of holistic high-quality programmes, providing strategic leadership and oversight for the Country Office's programme portfolio, ensuring projects are effectively designed, implemented, monitored, and aligned with organizational mission, strategy, and donor requirements.
Key responsibilities include leading development of the Country Office fundraising and partnership strategies; contributing to country strategy development; ensuring coherence and quality of programmatic input; strengthening collaboration with other actors; ensuring sound grants management through NRC's Project Cycle Management framework; ensuring synergy between programme and support units; and acting as Country Director when delegated.
Requirements: bachelor's degree in a relevant field (advanced qualification an advantage); minimum 5 years' experience in a senior management position in a humanitarian/recovery context with programme/project management responsibility; experience in NRC Core Competency programming; experience coordinating or leading consortia or partnerships; experience in MEAL systems and accountability mechanisms; experience in complex and volatile contexts; knowledge of the Central and West Africa context; experience with start-up/scale-up projects and emergency/early recovery contexts; fluency in English.
Duty station: Abuja, Nigeria. Contract: 24 months, grade 11 on NRC's salary scale (national/resident or international/mobile depending on profile).
