The Foundation seeks a Social Media Manager in its Communications department.
Reporting to the Integrated Content Director, the Social Media Manager will be a very hands-on communications strategist who activates and cares for online communities informed, engaged, and empowered by Mellon and the work it supports. The Manager operates Mellon's owned channels, brings expert understanding of digital media, and uses social media in new and innovative ways to drive engagement with storytelling, announcements, and events. They are involved in editorial planning, content development, and creative asset iteration, maintain relationships with platform partnership reps (Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google, and others), and keep a pulse on grantees and their sectors to maximize value from grantees' earned and social media stories.
Responsibilities:
- 60% Content Development and Publishing: conceive, organize, develop, and publish compelling copy, photos, and other creative content, working with the Creative team, colleagues, and freelance contributors. Ensure content is factual, error-free, aligned with the editorial plan, and follows digital accessibility best practices.
- 30% Growth and Engagement: identify and drive new strategies that build Mellon's profile, create meaningful exchanges with online audiences, cultivate influencer partners, recommend new handles to follow, and collaborate with digital agencies on cross-platform paid campaigns.
- 10% Measurement and Reporting: create and maintain tools for tracking metrics across social channels, paid campaigns, and the website; monitor sentiment and social listening tools to report on trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in social media management, digital engagement, marketing, and writing for the web
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, clients, or multiple stakeholders
- Strategic and creative thinking about building audiences for brands
- Ability to write compelling, error-free copy on tight deadlines
- Understanding of web graphics and design; ability to compile nuanced reporting and analysis
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Preferred: project management platform experience, photography/Photoshop, video and basic graphics editing, basic SEO and metadata knowledge, Mac proficiency, multilingual fluency.
Salary range: $140,000-$150,000 annually. Hybrid schedule with three days per week in person at the Foundation's Manhattan offices.
