Last Mile Health saves lives in the world's most remote communities by partnering with governments to recruit, train, equip and integrate professional community health workers into national health systems. Founded in Liberia in 2007, it operates in Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Malawi.
The Project Coordinator, Scaling Sayana Press will work with the Ministry of Health, County Health Teams and District Health Teams to translate the approved project design, national family planning guidance, commodity tracking processes and service delivery protocols into consistent delivery across eight Liberian counties (Bong, Grand Bassa, Lofa, Margibi, Nimba, Rivercess, Montserrado and Bomi). The project aims to improve family planning availability for approximately 42,000 women and adolescent girls in rural and hard-to-reach communities through community-based provision of Sayana Press (DMPA-SC), a subcutaneous injectable contraceptive. This is a fixed-term (24 months), full-time, on-site position based in Monrovia, open only to Liberian nationals currently located in Liberia.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate development of information, education and communication materials in local dialects to raise awareness of community-level family planning services.
- Provide continuous technical support to trained personnel at national, county, district and community levels.
- Support procurement of 150,000 doses of Sayana Press and distribution of approximately 230,000 doses to reach 42,000+ women.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance mechanisms, including adherence to clinical protocols, SOPs, reporting tools and data accuracy standards.
- Coordinate refresher training for community health assistants and quarterly integrated supervision visits.
- Oversee data entry and management using standardized tracking tools to support accurate consumption tracking and forecasting.
- Support learning, costing, evaluation and knowledge management activities.
- Plan and coordinate advocacy at Ministry of Health, county, district and community levels, and participate in technical working groups.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in public health, nursing, community health or health services management.
- Relevant professional experience in the work areas above.
- Experience within national and/or sub-national health systems (community health worker programs a plus).
- Experience in primary health care interventions.
- Familiarity with the Community Health Information System and DHIS2.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, partner engagement and project management skills.
- Ability to work in teams and independently, under pressure and to deadlines.
- Knowledge management skills, including MS Office and Google Suite.
Annual gross compensation range for band LBR-2: $13,404 to $22,340 USD, plus health insurance, retirement match, paid leave, parental leave, professional development and mental health support.
