The EpiC Kyrgyzstan Diagnostics and Laboratory Specialist for GHS will support the Diagnostics and Laboratory Advisor in implementing laboratory diagnostic network strengthening activities of the GHS project in the country, including technical inputs to annual work planning, and providing technical support to the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and their structural divisions on planning and implementing activities to improve quality, biosafety and biosecurity, genomic surveillance and performance of laboratory services, including leading development/updating of guidelines and SOPs for the laboratory diagnostic network. Key responsibilities include providing technical input and guidance on laboratory and diagnostics components; collaborating with national counterparts and Technical Working Groups to fulfill national objectives; planning and conducting TWG and partner meetings; developing and implementing training programs; supporting national laboratory system strengthening through trainings and workshops across human, animal and environmental health sectors; providing onsite technical assistance for capacity building; coordinating procurement and maintenance of laboratory supplies; and developing work plans, presentations and reports. Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in medicine or biological sciences within a clinical/diagnostic discipline (Master's an advantage); 4+ years' experience in infectious disease diagnostics and/or laboratory systems strengthening; proven experience in laboratory quality assurance, biosafety/biosecurity and audits; demonstrated ability in quality assurance and laboratory audits against national/international standards; experience training and mentoring staff; experience working with government officials, particularly Ministry of Health; international organization experience preferred. Kyrgyz and Russian fluency required; English fluency preferred. Travel: 50%, mostly within the Kyrgyz Republic. Position open to Kyrgyz residents, based in Bishkek.
