Location: La Paz, Bolivia
CI is recruiting an Environmental and Social Safeguards Senior Coordinator to support the high-performing Global Safeguards Team and its work managing the CI Safeguard System, designed to prevent adverse environmental and social impacts and enhance projects' benefits for people and nature. The position provides programmatic, technical, communications, research, administrative, and logistical assistance necessary for the smooth function of the CI Safeguard System, supporting project design and implementation, technical expertise, reporting on safeguards, training of CI staff and partners, institution-wide communications, knowledge management, and administrative functions. Responsibilities include organizing trainings and capacity-building workshops, providing technical safeguard support, maintaining safeguard resources, managing internal communications and knowledge platforms, conducting research on safeguard best practices and trends, and providing administrative and logistical support for events and consultant contracts. Required: Bachelor's degree or up to four years of university studies; 2 to 4 years of general work experience; demonstrated technical interest in safeguards and/or human rights in conservation; strong written and verbal English communication skills; experience in graphic design and communications; ability to design user-friendly technical resources; fluency in Microsoft 365. Preferred: proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Indonesian; academic training or experience in conservation, safeguards, or international development. Position may be based in Ecuador or Bolivia.
