Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is one of Germany's largest private aid organizations, working toward a world without hunger. WHH has been engaged in the Syria response since 2013, supporting displaced people and host communities in Syria and neighbouring countries, including Lebanon and Turkiye, through humanitarian assistance, early recovery and resilience-building programmes. As Head of Finance, you will support the Country Director in ensuring the effective and compliant financial management of Welthungerhilfe's programmes and projects across Syria, Turkiye and Lebanon, ensuring financial and administrative processes are efficient, transparent and auditable. Position to be filled by November 1st, 2026, initial contract duration of one year with good prospects for extension.
Responsibilities: Ensure efficient, transparent and auditable financial and administrative processes across the Country Office, projects and partner organisations; advise the Country Director and programme/project teams on financial planning, budgeting, donor requirements; oversee budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, project accounting, expenditure monitoring and cost allocation; oversee financial administration and refinancing of the Country Office; monitor financial management of partner organisations and strengthen their capacities; coordinate annual accounts, audits and financial reviews; support donor financial management including reports, fund requests and liaison with donors and auditors; lead and develop the Finance and Administration team.
Requirements: University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field; 5-10 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in financial management within an international NGO; strong experience in project financial management, budgeting, financial reporting and controls; sound knowledge of donor regulations, compliance and audit processes; strong analytical, organisational and coordination skills; strong communication skills; high intercultural competence; fluency in English, knowledge of German, Turkish or Arabic an advantage; willingness to travel within Syria, Turkiye and Lebanon.
