Location: Bonn / Berlin, Germany
Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is one of Germany's largest private aid organizations. Politically and religiously independent, it works toward a world without hunger. Together with national and international partners, WHH responds to humanitarian crises and supports long-term solutions that improve living conditions for the most vulnerable people, shaping food systems as a locally-led and globally connected organization under the vision "Zero Hunger on a Healthy Planet."

The WASH Advisor is responsible for leading the development of WHH's WASH/Water Resource Management (WRM) portfolio in line with WHH's global strategic ambition for a deep-seated, self-reinforcing transformation towards Zero Hunger, driving the shift from service delivery to system-transformative WASH/WRM programming. Key priorities include advancing innovative financing approaches and new roles for WHH in quality assurance, blended finance facilitation and fund management; promoting evidence-based approaches to strengthen local and national WASH systems; and adapting programming to challenges such as climate change and economic shocks.
Responsibilities: development and constant sharpening of a WASH/WRM strategy, including identification of impactful approaches to bridge service gaps and identification of research gaps in coordination with the Research Coordinator; active engagement in business development with the Donor Unit and Marketing Department through early positioning with consortia partners, donors and international stakeholders ("big bets" and "big bids"); proactive exchange with global key actors via network building, participation in international events and advocacy messaging; close collaboration with other technical advisors and Emergency Response Team experts on cross-thematic programming, notably the Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) nexus, Integrated Water Resources Management, WASH-related labour markets for youth and WASH in Emergencies; and coordinating capacity strengthening and technical advisory support for country offices across the project cycle, country strategy development, recruitment and field visits, plus continuous data assessment and analysis of the global portfolio.
Profile: university degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience with at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience; sound technical knowledge of WASH (WASH engineering skills an asset but not required); strong systems-thinking mindset with understanding of linkages to food and health systems; demonstrated advisory and strategic competencies managing a global portfolio; strong networking, partnership-building, communication, influencing and negotiation skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; high intercultural competence; openness to data-informed approaches; fluency in English required, German and/or French an asset.
