Contract duration: 6 months (interns work full time for a period between three and six months, agreed prior to commencement). The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression.
Organisational Context: The Human Resources Section (HRS) provides a unified and coordinated approach to HR matters across the Court and serves as HR advisor to management. It consists of the HR Operations Unit (recruitment, onboarding, administration of salaries, benefits and entitlements) and the HR Organizational Development Unit, which devises strategies, programmes and policies covering strategic workforce planning, talent management, organizational design, leadership development, staff training, learning and development, and performance management. The intern will join the Strategic Workforce Planning team.
Duties and Responsibilities: Contribute to the maintenance of workforce planning and analytics dashboards and reporting tools, including updates to user manuals; support the promotion of online tools and dashboards by preparing communication materials and assisting in information sessions for users; provide administrative and stakeholder management support to the job families project and the external consultant; contribute to the development of the internal mobility framework; conduct research to support workforce planning and other projects; and assist in the implementation of other Court-wide initiatives as required. Candidates should have a strong interest in Information Technology in HR, a continuous improvement mindset, and comfort working with applications such as Office 365, Visio, Power BI and Canva.
Qualifications: A degree, or being in the final stages of a relevant study at a recognized university, with a very good record of academic performance; degrees in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, Communications or Marketing are strongly encouraged, though other qualifications are welcome. Practical experience is not an essential prerequisite, but relevant experience may be an asset; applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience. Required skills include the ability to adapt to multicultural and multilingual working environments, strong teamwork, good computer skills, experience or interest in reporting and data, project management, and creating content for trainings and promotional material, a hands-on and pro-active approach, and strong communication and organisational skills. Proficiency in English or French is required; working knowledge of the other is desirable.
Remuneration: Internship and visiting professional placements at the ICC are unfunded. The ICC cannot provide remuneration or reimbursement of expenses incurred before, during or after the placement, so applicants must be able to support themselves for the entire duration.
