The Division of Internal Oversight Services (IOS) provides the Director-General with independent and objective assurance that programmes are delivered efficiently and effectively, that strategic management information is reliable and timely, and that continuous improvements are fostered to enhance the quality and impact of UNESCO's operations. IOS is responsible for planning and delivering internal audits, investigations, and evaluations of the Organization's activities, including field operations. Under the guidance of the Director of IOS and supervision of the Heads of Audit/Investigation/Evaluation Offices, the Intern will support strategies for safeguarding the Organization's interests. Duties vary by team: Audit — assist in conducting audits of Headquarters, Field Offices and IT systems, gathering audit evidence, examining records, analyzing financial data, and documenting audit findings. Investigation — assist in developing policies and procedures for administrative investigations, assessing allegations of misconduct (fraud, corruption, mismanagement, harassment), reviewing cases, drafting investigation plans and reports, conducting interviews, and carrying out open-source research and forensic reviews. Evaluation — support assessing the relevance, impact, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and coherence of UNESCO programmes, data collection and analysis, corporate and decentralized evaluations, and dissemination of findings. Required qualifications: at least 20 years old; currently enrolled in the 3rd/final year of a Bachelor's degree, or in a Master's/PhD, or graduated within the last 12 months. Excellent command of English or French; strong computer, teamwork and communication skills. UNESCO does not remunerate interns; duration is 1 to 6 months. Duty stations include Headquarters, Field Offices, and Institutes.
