Who are we?
DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organisation that has been operating in Ukraine since 2022. In Ukraine, DCA has a joint country programme with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), forming the Joint Country Program Ukraine (JCPUA) which focuses on various humanitarian activities, including Humanitarian Mine Action, WASH, Livelihoods, Group Cash Transfers and Protection.
POSITION OBJECTIVES
The HMA Interpreter/Ops Assistant is responsible for translating, interpreting, coordinating, and providing operational support to the HMA programme. The position ensures smooth communication between DCA, national authorities, partners, and communities, and supports compliance with national mine action requirements and DCA procedures.
Regardless of the content of this job description the employee is expected to participate in any task necessary for the organization always delegated by the line manager.
Work related travels are expected in this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support verbal communications between International and National staff through interpretation of English/Ukrainian language as required.

• Translate reports, correspondence, meeting minutes, and official documents.
• Liaise and coordinate with local partners implementing HMA activities.
• Maintain an updated glossary of mine action technical terminology.
• Update the HMA data in coordination with GIS/IM coordinator.
• Maintain and update all training data.
• Work within the framework of DCA core values
• Maintain a professional behaviour in all duties and responsibilities in line with DCA’s core values.
• Provide support to DCA on any Mine Clearance MoU/Accreditation work
• Follow up on coordination actions and flag risks or delays to management.
• Keep all documentation and files updated, properly filed and easily accessible for the internal users.
• Participate in meetings where relevant.
• Assist in monitoring HMA field activities and tracking operational progress.
• Undertake any other duties within the scope of DCA HMA programming as required.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent education.
• Previous experience as an interpreter, translator, and administrative/ops assistant.
• Previous experience in HMA or humanitarian programmes is preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
• Willingness to travel within Ukraine when required.
• Excellent spoken and written English and Ukrainian language skills.
