Dimensions of the role
It promotes and develops training processes on priority topics according to the current strategy of Plan International Guatemala. It also strengthens relationships between families and the community, supports processes of organization, community self-management and autonomy. It promotes the learning and exercise of children's rights, maintaining close relations of communication and coordination with the population served and a positive environment in interaction with the work team.
 
Main responsibilities
  • Implement priority actions according to the current Country Strategy.
  • Promote the processes of Child-Centered Community Development with a rights-based approach, in the assigned geographical areas.
  • Support the programmatic implementation process and monitor the impact of projects that are executed in the areas of influence, to ensure the achievement of goals, results, and indicators established in the current country strategy.
  • Ensure the active participation of community leaders, sponsored families, and the community at large to promote integral community development.
  • Meet the objectives and goals of each assigned project, ensuring quality implementation and prioritizing SC families.
  • Accompaniment and monitoring of programmatic actions, carried out through partners
  • Follow-up on Grant actions that end actions, to guarantee the sustainability of the processes.
  • Timely plan programmatic, administrative, and financial actions, for accountability and comply with mechanisms according to the operational manuals.
  • Participate in the implementation of the project(s) throughout the cycle
  • Comply with administrative processes and procedures (manage with the different departments)
  • Ensure that the complete record of the assigned PO or POs is kept, which complies with the administrative-financial manual, as well as the supporting documents.
  • Contribute to the fulfillment of the global assurance recommendations and audits carried out in the country in the relevant program areas, particularly in the Area of Gender, Inclusion and Safeguarding/PSHEA
Safeguarding
Ensures that Plan International's global safeguarding policy and PII policy to prevent sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse; and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully integrated in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy, including the relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as appropriate to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International's Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with appropriate procedures.
 
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Technical expertise:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in implementing projects at the community level; with a background in Social Sciences, Sociology, Economics, Education, Public Health or another area relevant to the position.

Knowledge:
  • Professional in Economic, Social Sciences or Business Management.
  • Minimum experience, proven of 2 years in the implementation of community development project in rural areas.
  • Management of logical framework, implementation and evaluation of development projects
  • Knowledge about the management of community organization.
  • Knowledge of the gender and children's rights approach.
  • Assumes a commitment to zero tolerance for child abuse and commits to the Code of Conduct.
  • Solid knowledge of planning, implementation and evaluation of social development programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of human rights, with main emphasis on children's rights.
Position-specific skills:
  • Management of basic computer packages (Word, Excel, Power Point, email, internet).
  • Ability to drive a four-wheeled vehicle and have a valid license.
  • Ability to organize groups and to use interactive techniques and tools that promote active participation in children's and adult groups.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to generate good quality reports.
  • Establish empathy with gender equality, multiculturalism, safeguarding children and young people and a rights-based approach.
  • Social and human sensitivity.
  • Respect for diversity (cultural, ethnic, gender, among others).

Responsibility in emergency situations:
  • Provide the required support in emergency response actions, according to established plans, established protocols, and compliance reports
