Contributed to improving internal/external donor relations, wrote 3 successful proposals, handled reporting of international projects, built language capacities of the staff and improved the Global Giving page, thereby increasing the international donations to the NGO. Improved my knowledge on diverse community development issues.
- Internship (October to mid-December 2017) SIHA (Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa), Khartoum, Sudan. Projects monitoring, report writing and administrative tasks. Supported the writing of a youth training manual on diversity, citizenship and peaceful coexistence. Gained insight on how men can be better agents in supporting women, human rights issues of women prisoners, literacy as an integration tool for refugees, sexual and gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health rights.
- Internship (March to August 2017) UNDP, Khartoum, Sudan. Improving the communications of national counterpart of UNDP working on DDR (SDDRC), reporting on C2SP (Community security and stabilisation programme) and assisting in the formation of the Countering Violent Extremism in Sudan Report. I also learned about solar energy in Darfur, peacebuilding training of ex-combatants and their economic and social rehabilitation through community development initiatives.
- Internship (July to August 2013) Somalia Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Nairobi, Kenya. Supporting ICRC research on the Somali population in Kenya (delving into history, migration, refugee issues, xenophobia, news and economic activities), reporting and editing of documents. I transcribed an audio-visual mission conducted in Somalia, covering the topics: restoring family links, skills training, rehabilitating flood affected villages and farmers, health, nutrition and food distribution.
